Cara Moyer-Duncan is Associate Professor of Africana Studies and Program
Coordinator for the Emerson Prison Initiative at Emerson College. Her book, Projecting
Nation: South African Cinemas after 1994 (MSU Press, 2020), examines the ways in which
national and transnational forces have shaped the representation of race and nation in
feature-length narrative fiction films. Moyer-Duncan has also authored several articles on
South African cinema, including “Resistance Documentaries in Post-Apartheid South
Africa: Dear Mandela and Miners Shot Down,” published in the Journal of African Cinemas.
