Job Overview

The Department of Romance and Arabic Languages and Literatures (RALL) in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of French. The successful candidate can expect to teach two courses per semester in RALL at the undergraduate and graduate levels. These courses may include, but not be limited to, French and Francophone language, literature, media, and/or culture courses from the introductory to the advanced graduate levels. Coursework could more specifically include a focus on global French-speaking countries and cultures as related to Film and Media Studies, Professional French, Urban Studies, or Environmental Studies.

 

The successful candidate will also be expected to utilize innovative technologies and teaching methods from prior teaching experience, including Distance/Online Learning, and to maintain an active research agenda which involves conducting original research and publishing in one’s area(s) of expertise. Service activities such as serving on departmental, College-wide, or University-wide committees and organizing or helping to organize a study abroad program will also be expected. 

 

Minimum Requirements

All of the following are required prior to the effective date of the appointment which is August 15, 2022:

  • Completion of a Ph D  in French
  • Minimum of three academic years of experience teaching courses in French language, literature, or culture at the college (undergraduate or graduate) level, which could have been as a teaching assistant, adjunct or full-time faculty
  • Native or near-native fluency in French.
