New York University seeks to appoint an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the field of African literature with expertise in postcolonial literature and theory effective 09/01/2017, pending final administrative and budgetary approval. Expertise in British, global Anglophone, and/or African diasporic literature and knowledge of literatures in languages other than English would be welcome. The successful candidate will demonstrate scholarly excellence and a commitment to both graduate and undergraduate teaching, and must have the PhD in hand by September 1, 2017. The search committee is especially interested to hear from candidates who will bring to their research and teaching the diverse perspectives that come from non-traditional educational backgrounds or an understanding of the experience of those under-represented in higher education. Candidates may include in their cover letter information about how they will contribute to the building of a broadly diverse educational environment at NYU.
