CFP: Submission for English in Africa

Call for submissions: English in Africa

English in Africa was founded in 1974 to provide a forum for the study of African literature in English. It is published three times a year by the Institute for the Study of the Englishes of Africa (ISEA) at Rhodes University, South Africa.

The Editor is currently inviting contributions for 2023 on all aspects of English writing and the English language in Africa, including oral traditions and African languages in translation. English in Africa publishes scholarly articles, reviews and review articles, tributes, book reviews and editorials. It places a particular emphasis on new or under-researched areas in African literature, and has tended to favour historical rather than theoretical modes of enquiry.

Submissions (of between 7000 and 9000 words) should be arranged to conform with the system for parenthetical documentation set out in the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers (8th edition). Submissions are reviewed anonymously by members of English in Africa’s Editorial Board and other prominent scholars.
