JOB: Assistant Professor, African Literatures and Intercultural Studies, U of Georgia

The Department of Comparative Literature and Intercultural Studies (CLIS) and the African Studies Institute (ASI) at the University of Georgia invite applications for the position of a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the area of African Literatures and Intercultural Studies, with primary specialization in Anglophone Sub-Saharan African Literature. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and research and should be able to teach introductory courses in African Literature and African Studies, as well as specialized courses in African Oral Traditions and/or Intercultural Studies both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. We are particularly interested in candidates with the ability to teach African Literature in a global context as well as those with secondary specialization in African cinema, African Diaspora literature and/or African language pedagogy. The successful candidate will be expected to teach introductory courses in one of these areas.
 
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature, African Studies or a related field by the time of appointment.
