The Department of African American and African Studies (AAAS) and the Department of History at The Ohio State University invite applications for a position in the history of Black migrations. The Department seeks a scholar at the rank of assistant or associate professor whose research expertise examines 20th-century Black Migrations. We encourage applications from candidates with a wide range of approaches to this topic, including approaches that center the perspective of migrant communities and cultures, global history, Black/Africana Studies, African history, North American history, gender and sexuality studies, economic history, or histories of race or religion. The ideal candidate will be expected to teach at all levels of the undergraduate and graduate curriculum. An ability to integrate community work with African diaspora communities in central Ohio in teaching and research practices is desirable. Qualifications: Candidates are expected to hold a PhD in Africana/Black Studies, History, or a related field by August 15, 2023. ABDs welcome to apply.
