Political Economy of Race/Racism (Assistant Professor) – Ohio State University

The Department of African American and African Studies (AAAS) at The Ohio State University invites applications for a position in Political Economy of Race/Racism. We are looking for a scholar whose research combines quantitative and qualitative approaches to the analysis of racism, with an emphasis on the economics of discrimination in the US, though an interest in comparative economic histories and or analysis of the political economics of racism in other nations is a plus. The finalist is expected to actively contribute to the intellectual life and research profile of the department, including participation in the outreach activities of the Community Extension Center.

Candidates are expected to hold a PhD in Africana/Black Studies or another relevant discipline such as Economics, Political Science, or Sociology by August 15, 2023. ABDs welcome to apply. Applicants should have interest in teaching classes in the department’s existing graduate and undergraduate Africana curriculum and, if appropriate, design new courses. Appointment is contingent on the university’s verification of credentials and other information required by law and/or university policies, including but not limited to a criminal background check.
